On August 8th 2016 at approximately 9:34 PM Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a male subject lying in the roadway at 23601 SR 93 Lot 116. Upon arrival of Emergency personnel it was discovered that 60 year old Ronald May was injured from unknown causes. Mr. May, of Coshocton, was transported to Coshocton Memorial Hospital and was flown to Grant Medical Center. Assisting at the scene was Coshocton County EMS, West Lafayette Fire Department and Life Flight. This incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

On June 5th 2025, at approximately 03:15 AM the Sheriff’s Office received reports of a motor vehicle accident in the 500 block of South 7th Street in the city of Coshocton.
Upon arrival, it was determined by Deputies that a 2020 Kia Forte had backed into a pole in the parking lot of Circle K. As Deputies attempted to gather the driver’s information the driver jumped into the Kia and took off at a high rate of speed traveling South on South 7th Street. At the intersection of South 7th Street and Otsego Avenue the Kia failed to negotiate a left hand turn striking the guardrail. The Kia then continued Southeast on Otsego Avenue at speeds around 100 Mph. As the Kia approached State Route 83 the Kia made a left hand turn continuing Southbound on SR 83 with speeds up to 90 Mph. Upon reaching County Road 7 the Kia made another left hand turn onto Count Road 7 traveling East reaching speeds up to 60 Mph. At this time, it was discovered that the Kia had been reported stolen out of Licking County. Near the intersection of Township Road 140, Deputies performed a controlled contact forcing the Kia off of the left-hand side of the roadway and into an embankment. The driver was swiftly taken into custody without further incident. The driver was identified as a runaway juvenile out of Licking County. The juvenile was transported to CRMC by Coshocton County EMS with complaint type injuries. This incident is being reviewed by the Coshocton County Prosecutors Office for the filing of formal charges.

On June 3rd, 2025, at approximately 6:20 PM a Deputy was on Patrol in the area of USR 36 and CR 10 when he observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed. The Deputy turned around on the motorcycle and followed it to USR 36 and SR 93. The motorcycle made a right hand turn, travelling Southbound on SR 93. The Deputy observed the motorcycle pass numerous vehicles by going around them on the double yellow line. The Deputy activated emergency lights and sirens, the motorcycle then began to flee. The Deputy began a pursuit with the motorcycle, entering into West Lafayette on North Kirk Street. The motorcycle ran the stop sign at Main Street and Kirk where a West Lafayette Police Officer was able to join in the pursuit. The motorcycle turned left onto East Main Street going Eastbound. The motorcycle turned right onto SR 93 continuing Southbound. The motorcycle stayed on SR 93 reaching speeds greater than 110 MPH. The motorcycle went through Plainfield before continuing onto SR 541 and into Guernsey County. The motorcycle continued on SR 541 reaching speeds into the 100’s as it was entering into Kimbolton. The motorcycle made a right hand turn, travelling Southbound on I-77. After getting onto I-77, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit. The motorcycle continued Southbound on I-77 reaching speeds greater than 125 MPH. The pursuit was handed off to Guernsey and OSP on I-77 near SR 40. Guernsey and OSP continued on I-77 and lost sight of the motorcycle as it entered into Noble County where Noble County Sheriff’s Office was waiting to assist. After investigation the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Tristan Gallagher-Bufkin. This incident is being reviewed by the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.

On June 2nd, 2025, at approximately 2:16pm. The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an injury accident on CR 16 near Morgan Run Rd in Lafayette Township.
Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that 39-year-old Brandon Kalac of Coshocton was traveling East Bound on CR 16 when he drove off the right side of the roadway and stuck a guardrail. After striking the guardrail, Mr. Kalac over corrected and drove off the left side of the roadway. Mr. Kalac then struck an embankment and overturned landing on the passenger side. Mr. Kalac was extricated from the vehicle by Coshocton City Fire. Mr. Kalac was transported by CCEMS to the landing zone where he was flown to Akron Summa Hospital by Medflight. The condition of Mr. Kalac was unknown at the time of this release.
Assisting on scene was Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton City Fire, West Lafayette Fire Department, West Lafayette Police Department, Prince’s Wrecker Service, and React.
