News Release On March 26th, 2024 at approximately 6:35 AM the Sheriff’s Office received a phone call in reference to an injury accident in the 19000 block of State Route 79, Perry Township. Upon arrival of emergency personnel, it was determined that Curtis Jones, 54 years old, of Warsaw was traveling South on State Route 79 when he came across a section of roadway that was covered in mud from nearby field work. Curtis was unable to control his vehicle as he went off the right side of the roadway into a ditch as the vehicle overturned onto the driver side. Curtis was able to exit the vehicle without injury. This accident remains under investigation at this time. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office on scene were the Walhonding Valley Fire District, Prince’s Wrecker Service, and ODOT. On March 23rd, 2024, at approximately 11:29 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received an emergency crash detection from a cell phone on US 36 near TR 41 in Jefferson Township. On March 23rd, 2024 at approximately 10:24 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a possible injury accident in the 25000 block of CR 193 in Keene Township.Upon arrival of emergency personnel, it was determined that a 2003 Chevrolet Truck was traveling Westbound on CR 193 when they lost control, went off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
