Coshocton County has an Emergency Telephone Calling System named “CODE RED”. This calling system has the capability to call every phone number registered in our database within a short period of time, or targeted areas as needed in the event of an emergency. The calling system is used for Emergency Communication to county residents and can be triggered by personnel from several emergency response agencies within the county. The phone numbers called are the ones recorded in a database of Coshocton County telephones.

You can sign up to receive CodeRED Emergency Alerts and CodeRED Weather Warnings by clicking the logo above. CodeRED Emergency Alerts and CodeRED Weather Warnings send notification to those that are in the path of incoming severe weather or may be affected by some other emergency situation. The calls are placed directly to your home or cell phone number you have registered in the database.

Each resident of Coshocton County can add additional phone numbers to the data base to be sure they are contacted if a call is placed to notify them of an emergency situation. Your street/road address is very important so a call will only be placed to you if your address is affected by the emergency condition. By using this capability, you can add not just your home number but a cell phone number if you would like to receive the call and text messages. Citizens can also register an email address for alerts to be sent to.

You can opt in to receive CodeRED Weather Warnings. CodeRED Weather Warnings are alerts that are sent to the numbers in our database in the event of severe weather. When the National Weather Service issues a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, Tornado Warning or Flash Flood Warning you will receive an emergency phone call only if you are in the projected path of the storm. In the event of a Severe Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service, alerts are sent via email and text.

Iphone  and Android users – Check out the CodeRED Mobile Alert App

Designed to keep you informed and aware, the CodeRED Mobile Alert App taps into the national CodeRED Emergency Notification System and alerts subscribers located within the reach of a given notification area generated by public safety officials. The App tracks your position, so no matter where you are when an alert is issued, you will receive notifications that affect you right on your mobile device.

Recently the Coshocton County Emergency Management Agency added an upgrade to the CodeRED mass notification system. The upgrade is the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). IPAWS enables emergency officials the ability to call every phone (land line or cellular), access the Emergency Alert System  as well as other communication devices in the event of an emergency. IPAWS will only be used in extreme emergency situations. We highly encourage all county residents to register their phone numbers in the CodeRED system so they can be alerted in the event of emergencies and severe weather.
