Zac Miller graduated from Ridgewood High School; he was born in Coshocton, OH and resides in the West Lafayette area.
Zac enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard in 2000. In 2004, he deployed to Iraq with the 211th Maintenance Co. under the 101st Airborne at Camp Anaconda (Balad, Iraq). In 2008, Zac deployed again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), this time as a Sergeant in the 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. His last deployment was in 2017, he was called to active duty again to deploy in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) and Operation Spartan Shield (OSS). This deployment took him to Kuwait, Iraq and Syria. Zac was medically retired from the US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in 2022. He retired with over 21 years of service.

He is a life member of the DAV Chapter 74, AMVETS Post 36, and the VFW. He is a member of the American Legion Post #466 and the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard. He also serves as a board member for a local veterans non-profit Operation Veterans Helping Veterans (OVHV).
Zac worked previously in the Coshocton County Veterans Service Office as a CVSO and Director.
Zac was appointed as the American Legion Representative on the Veterans Service Commission on January 11, 2025. His current term expires on January 10, 2030.
