Coshocton SWCD provides technical assistance through a cooperative working agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service.  All technical assistance provided by the Coshocton SWCD MUST<\/strong><\/span> follow USDA-NRCS standards and specifications.  If the landowner wishes to install the practice without following these guidelines, our assistance will be withdrawn immediately<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Coshocton SWCD and USDA-NRCS provide technical assistance for the construction of conservation practices with the following guidelines:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Technical Assistance will be provided for site evaluation, conservation planning, design of the engineering plan and on-site supervision of the construction only if USDA-NRCS Standards & Specifications are followed.<\/p>\n

What we DO
\n<\/strong>\u2022<\/span>  <\/strong><\/span>Assistance is provided for:
\n           \u2022  Site evaluations.
\n           \u2022  Conservation plan development.
\n           \u2022  Engineering assistance- including plan and design.
\n\u2022  Technical assistance provided at site:
\n           \u2022  Provide technical assistance during construction.
\n           \u2022  Answer questions about the construction of the practice.
\n           \u2022  Materials- MUST<\/strong><\/span> meet USDA-NRCS specifications.
\n           \u2022  USDA-NRCS standards and specifications MUST<\/span> <\/strong>be followed.  
\n           \u2022  Pre-construction meetings to review with landowner and contractor.
\n           \u2022  Any changes to plan- needs to be approved by person with the proper
\n                job approval authority.
\n          \u2022  All USDA-NRCS safety requirements must be followed and met.
\n          \u2022  OUPS MUST<\/span><\/strong> be called 48 hours prior to digging, at 1-800-362-2764.
\n          \u2022  Ohio Oil & Gas Association MUST<\/strong><\/span> be called 48 hours prior to digging, at
\n               1-800-925-0988.
\n\u2022  Assistance for the installation of tile drainage:
\n          \u2022  Site review and soils information.<\/p>\n

What we DON’T do
\n<\/strong>\u2022  Assist with projects that DO NOT follow USDA-NRCS standards and
\n     specifications.<\/span>
\n\u2022  We DO NOT operate equipment for the contractor.<\/span>
\n\u2022  We DO NOT supply the labor to install the practice.<\/span>
\n\u2022  We DO NOT provide assistance with construction of any practice without an
\n     approved conservation and engineering plan.<\/span>
\n\u2022  We DO NOT provide assistance if the materials do not meet USDA-NRCS
\n     standards and specifications.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Failure to follow any guidelines will result in our withdrawal of technical assistance and could effect the eligibility of cost-sharing funds.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Coshocton SWCD Board of Supervisors have prioritized the workload of our technical staff and will follow the priorities as set by our stakeholders.  
\nPriorities are as follows:
\n          1. CONSERVATION EDUCATION
\n          2.  IMPROVE WATER QUALITY
\n          3.  FOREST MANAGEMENT
\n          4.  PASTURE MANAGEMENT<\/p>\n

Soils and Technical Assistance
\n     <\/strong>\u2022  Information on soil types and limitations for different uses- basements,
\n          septic tanks, roads, etc.<\/span>
\n     \u2022  Information about suitable crops, rotations for each kind of soil, and
\n          development of conservation plan.<\/span>
\n     \u2022  Information about manure application rates and development of
\n          comprehensive nutrient management plans to properly handle manure and
\n          commercial fertilizer.<\/span>
\n     \u2022  Assistance in designing, laying out, and supervising construction of
\n          conservation practices; for example, grassed waterways, diversions,
\n          contour strips, spring developments, structures, and animal manure
\n          storage facilities.<\/span>
\n     \u2022  Information about alternative land uses and treatments for controlling
\n          erosion and reducing sedimentation.<\/span>
\n     \u2022  Aerial and soil maps of Coshocton County.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
