{"id":887,"date":"2018-03-22T11:49:02","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T15:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.coshoctoncounty.net\/swcd\/?p=887"},"modified":"2018-03-22T11:49:21","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T15:49:21","slug":"technical-assistance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.coshoctoncounty.net\/swcd\/2018\/03\/22\/technical-assistance\/","title":{"rendered":"Technical Assistance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">Coshocton SWCD provides technical assistance through a cooperative working agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture &#8211; Natural Resources Conservation Service. &nbsp;All technical assistance provided by the Coshocton SWCD <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>MUST<\/strong><\/span> follow USDA-NRCS standards and specifications. &nbsp;If the landowner wishes to install the practice without following these guidelines, our assistance will be <strong>withdrawn immediately<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Coshocton SWCD and USDA-NRCS provide technical assistance for the construction of conservation practices with the following guidelines:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Technical Assistance will be provided for site evaluation, conservation planning, design of the engineering plan and on-site supervision of the construction only if USDA-NRCS Standards &amp; Specifications are followed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000\"><strong>What we DO<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2022<\/span><strong> &nbsp;<\/strong><\/span>Assistance is provided for:<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Site evaluations.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Conservation plan development.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Engineering assistance- including plan and design.<br \/>\n\u2022 &nbsp;Technical assistance provided at site:<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Provide technical assistance during construction.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Answer questions about the construction of the practice.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Materials- <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>MUST<\/strong><\/span> meet USDA-NRCS specifications.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;USDA-NRCS standards and specifications&nbsp;<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">MUST<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong>be followed. &nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Pre-construction meetings to review with landowner and contractor.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Any changes to plan- needs to be approved by person with the proper<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; job approval authority.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; \u2022 &nbsp;All USDA-NRCS safety requirements must be followed and met.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; \u2022 &nbsp;OUPS <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">MUST<\/span><\/strong> be called 48 hours prior to digging, at 1-800-362-2764.<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; \u2022 &nbsp;Ohio Oil &amp; Gas Association <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>MUST<\/strong><\/span> be called 48 hours prior to digging, at<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1-800-925-0988.<br \/>\n\u2022 &nbsp;Assistance for the installation of tile drainage:<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; \u2022 &nbsp;Site review and soils information.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000\"><strong>What we DON&#8217;T do<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2022 &nbsp;Assist with projects that DO NOT follow USDA-NRCS standards and<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;specifications.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2022 &nbsp;We DO NOT operate equipment for the contractor.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2022 &nbsp;We DO NOT supply the labor to install the practice.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2022 &nbsp;We DO NOT provide assistance with construction of any practice without an<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;approved conservation and engineering plan.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2022 &nbsp;We DO NOT provide assistance if the materials do not meet USDA-NRCS<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;standards and specifications.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #008000\">Failure to follow any guidelines will result in our withdrawal of technical assistance and could effect the eligibility of cost-sharing funds.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coshocton SWCD Board of Supervisors have prioritized the workload of our technical staff and will follow the priorities as set by our stakeholders. &nbsp;<br \/>\nPriorities are as follows:<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 1. CONSERVATION EDUCATION<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 2. &nbsp;IMPROVE WATER QUALITY<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 3. &nbsp;FOREST MANAGEMENT<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 4. &nbsp;PASTURE MANAGEMENT<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000\"><strong>Soils and Technical Assistance<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u2022 &nbsp;Information on soil types and limitations for different uses- basements,<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; septic tanks, roads, etc.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Information about suitable crops, rotations for each kind of soil, and<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; development of conservation plan.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Information about manure application rates and development of<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; comprehensive&nbsp;nutrient management plans to properly handle manure and<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; commercial fertilizer.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Assistance in designing, laying out, and supervising construction of<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; conservation&nbsp;practices; for example, grassed waterways, diversions,<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; contour strips, spring developments, structures, and animal manure<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; storage facilities.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Information about alternative land uses and treatments for controlling<br \/>\n&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; erosion and reducing sedimentation.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u2022 &nbsp;Aerial and soil maps of Coshocton County.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coshocton SWCD provides technical assistance through a cooperative working agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture &#8211; Natural Resources Conservation Service. &nbsp;All technical assistance provided by the Coshocton SWCD MUST follow USDA-NRCS standards and specifications. &nbsp;If the landowner wishes to install the practice without following these guidelines, our assistance will be withdrawn immediately.
