Our adoptable animals are posted to our Facebook page timeline, Coshocton County Animal Shelter & HATA. <\/a>
We are a dog pound and open intake cat shelter, accepting animals from many backgrounds, histories, and circumstances. The stray dogs who enter, often go home to their rightful owner.<\/p>\nWhen we have assessed a dog or puppy, cat or kitten for adoptable status, we fully vet our animals prior to making them available to you. They\u2019re posted to our Facebook page, with a link to the adoption application.
<\/span><\/p>\nA <\/span>meet and greet appointment is scheduled with an approved applicant, once veterinary care is complete, then they go home. Your resident dogs and children, family members living in your home, encouraged to meet all of our pets prior to finalization of adoption. <\/span><\/p>\n

To meet and adopt a pet from our shelter, we require an application. You must complete all required sections. <\/p>\n

We do not do same day, walk in adoptions at this animal shelter<\/em><\/strong>.
<\/span>You must have a pre-approved application on file. <\/span><\/p>\nVeterinary <\/span>Reference verified. <\/span><\/p>\n
You must be a current <\/span>state of Ohio resident (we do not ship animals under any circumstances)<\/span><\/p>\n
Applicants must be age 21 and over.
<\/span><\/p>\nWhen <\/span>renting your home, landlord signed permission to adopt the dog or cat with housing pet rules (including a<\/span> contact number) must be supplied for adoption with your application. Submit written permission or pet policy to our email following your submission please, to be approved.<\/span>Coshocton county residents are prioritized for our adoptable pets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

30 day, Flea and Tick medication, de-worming<\/p>\nAdoptable kittens and puppies are not kept onsite for extensive periods after intake, but placed in foster care or vet boarding, to ensure health & wellness to the best of our ability.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2026Because our space varies every day, week as an open intake shelter. <\/strong><\/p>\n
Rescue\/Transfer networks save lives!<\/strong><\/p>\n
We utilize rescue & transferring routinely for litters, owner surrenders, and medical cases that overwhelm our small budget and small, high intake, animal shelter. We also prefer our pets in foster care, especially those who struggle in the shelter environment. The summer and spring months require this space related movement even more so, when our volume is 40-120+ animals and intakes each week during our busy season. You can inquire at any rescue or partnering facility we partner with to adopt from there, and are encouraged to support our wonderful network! <\/p>\n
\nLocal Adoption Partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Coshocton Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Christy and team assist us with many adoptions and meet & greets. Clinic coordinator Kelly (voluntarily) provides assistance like photographs as well, to increase adoption rates from our facility! We also partner with the Chatty Cat Cafe, Zanesville where you can adopt alumni from our facility. <\/p>\n
\nFoster Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
If you are interested in fostering, amongst other criteria that will be reviewed, you must be located in Coshocton county. This is due to frequent drop offs at our local veterinary offices and maintenance of supplies needs convenience.<\/p>\n
Please complete the above form but in last column, include what you\u2019re interested in fostering (age, type, special needs, seniors).<\/p>\n
All food & litter for the foster family are provided at no cost to the foster family.<\/p>\n
You must be able to get fosters to and from the veterinarian, flexible schedules best. <\/span><\/p>\n
We do prefer homes with limited resident pets and children 10+ for the safety and calm of the foster animals or nursing mothers. <\/p>\n
Foster needs highest in the spring and summer months.
