{"id":109,"date":"2016-06-30T14:23:27","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T18:23:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/172.16.1.215\/health\/?page_id=109"},"modified":"2026-01-23T08:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T13:33:08","slug":"animal-bite-investigations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.coshoctoncounty.net\/health\/animal-bite-investigations\/","title":{"rendered":"Animal Bite Investigations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"LEFT\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-264 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coshoctoncounty.net\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2016\/06\/wildlife_300x250-300x250.jpg\" alt=\"wildlife_300x250\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"><strong>Per Ohio Administrative Code Rule 3701-3-28 Report of bite of dog or other mammal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">(A) Whenever an individual is bitten by a dog or other non-human mammal, report of such bite shall be made within twenty-four hours to the health commissioner of the district in which such bite occurred.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">The report herein required shall be made by any health care provider, or by any licensed doctor of veterinary medicine with knowledge of the bite, or by the individual bitten.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">(B) Local health districts are required to submit information regarding non-human mammalian bites occurring in their district to the Ohio department of health annually.<\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><strong>What happens if I am the Owner of a pet that has bitten somebody?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>We are not going to take your animal<\/u>. You are required to keep the dog on your property under your control so it does not have access to other animals or people for a period of <strong>10 days<\/strong> from the day of bite.<\/li>\n<li>The animal must be vaccinated by a licensed veterinarian if not already currently vaccinated, within 7 days after the final 10 day quarantine period.
