Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office News Release

August 12th 2016 Search Warrant

On August 12th, 2016, at approximately 12:30pm, Detectives from the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office executed a Search Warrant in the 19000 block of SR 16, in the county of Coshocton.

As a result of this search warrant, drugs, drug related items, cash and equipment used in the manufacturing of Methamphetamine were seized. Two adult females, along with an adult male were taken into custody during the raid and await the filing of formal charges.

Assisting the Detectives were members of the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) and The Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.

This incident remains under investigation by your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.

August 10th 2016 Search Warrant

On August 10th, 2016, at approximately 12:10pm, Detectives from the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office executed a Search Warrant in the 300 block of N 9th St, in the City of Coshocton.
As a result of this search warrant, a large amount of drugs and drug related items were seized and two adult males, along with an adult female were taken into custody and awaiting the filing of formal charges.
Assisting the Detectives were members of the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) and The Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.
This incident remains under investigation by your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.

August 10, 2016 T.R. 341

At approximately 12:35 pm today, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call by a local mother reporting her 9 year old son was stuck by lightning and is unresponsive in the area of Jefferson Twp. 341, in our county. 

        Coshocton County EMS was first on scene with Walhonding Valley Fire and Coshocton County Sheriff’s office also responding to assist EMS and the family.

        The child was transported from the scene to Coshocton County Memorial Hospital where he later died from this injury.

August 8th 2016

On August 8th 2016 at approximately 9:34 PM Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a male subject lying in the roadway at 23601 SR 93 Lot 116. Upon arrival of Emergency personnel it was discovered that 60 year old Ronald May was injured from unknown causes. Mr. May, of Coshocton, was transported to Coshocton Memorial Hospital and was flown to Grant Medical Center. Assisting at the scene was Coshocton County EMS, West Lafayette Fire Department and Life Flight. This incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

July 30th 2016 SR 83 Accident

On July 30th 2016, at approximately 11:58 AM Dispatch received several 911 calls in reference to a 1 vehicle accident on SR.83 just north of CR.24. Upon arrival of the Deputies it was determined that 56 year old Walter J. Rice Jr. of Parma, Ohio was traveling southbound on SR 83 on his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mr. Rice came out of a slight curve in the roadway and went off the right side of the road striking the guardrail face. Mr. Rice was then ejected from the motorcycle and the motorcycle continued down the guardrail and then down an embankment. Mr. Rice was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Mr. Rice was transported to Coshocton County Hospital and then flown by med flight to Grant Hospital. Assisting at the scene was Three Rivers Fire District, Coshocton County EMS, Princes Wrecker Service and REACT.

July 23rd 2016 SR 79 Accident

On July 23rd 2016 at approximately 6:01 PM Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to a 1 vehicle accident at 23570 SR 79. Upon arrival of Emergency personnel it was discovered that 27 year old Ronald Holbrook was Northbound on SR 79 and struck a bridge that was being constructed. Mr. Holbrook, of Coshocton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is believed that speed and alcohol was involved.

Assisting at the scene was Walhounding Valley Fire, Coshocton County EMS, Princes Wrecker Service and the Coshocton County Comer.

This accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

July 23rd 2016 SR 60 Accident

On July 23rd 2016, at 13:15, the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of an injury accident, just north of CR.17 on SR.60. Upon the arrival of deputies, it was determined that Phillip Harland (age:34) of Ashland was traveling northbound on SR.60 and lost control of his 2009 Honda motorcycle and laid it down on its side. Both Mr. Harland and his passenger Molly Harland (age:34) of Ashland. Both subjects were ejected off the motorcycle and neither one of them were wearing a helmet.

Mrs. Harland was flown from the scene by Med Flight to Akron General. Mr. Harland was not injured and refused treatment.

Also assisting on the scene was Med-Flight, Walhounding Fire District, Coshocton County EMS and Prince’s Wrecker Service.
