Livestock Feeding Pad Construction Season
The
construction season for livestock feeding pads utilizing the Flue Gas
Desulfurization (FGD) material from the AEP-Conesville Power Plant is
May 1st through August 31st each year. This material is available to
county landowners. The FGD material used in the construction of
livestock feeding pads requires an additional manufacturing process at
the power plant to allow the material to harden. Over 200 FGD feeding
pads have been installed in Coshocton County since 1997. If you are
interested in constructing a FGD
feeding pad, please contact Coshocton SWCD at 622-8087 extension 4 as
soon as possible. All prospective feeding pad sites must be reviewed by
our office prior to construction to ensure Ohio EPA site requirements
for FGD feeding pads are met and a conservation plan is drawn up for
each field containing a feeding pad. Material is available free of
charge, but a trucking fee is the responsible of the landowner. Feeding
pads can be used for beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, sheep and goats.
