The Novelty Advertising Company
in August of 2008 signed a three-year agreement with Lee Wayne Corporation to print a portion of their 2010 exclusive calendar line. Novelty was one of 30 companies considered from a nationwide group and was the only company to receive a contract. This will create about 8 to 10 jobs locally, with further growth potential possible. Novelty currently has 47 full-time employees.
EVO Industries
consolidated manufacturing plants and brought 14 jobs to Coshocton in August 2008. The company manufactures parts for weighing scales. The $200,000 project was partially financed by the Coshocton Port Authority's revolving loan fund. The company plans to create another 6 to 10 jobs within the next three years.
Kraft Foods cut a red ribbon on September 20, 2007 at its Coshocton manufacturing facility where it celebrated a $20 million expansion to support virtually all of the nation's Oscar Meyer bacon production. The project enhances product distribution and reinforces the need to retain all 416 full-time employees and 20 new full-time positions were created as a part of this investment. The State of Ohio provided more than $250,000 in grants to support public infrastructure improvements to facilitate the expansion. The Coshocton workforce and location was in competition with a site in St. Louis for the investment.
Coshocton Ethanol LLC opened a $115 million manufacturing facility in 2008 and operated at 90% capacity until market conditions caused it to cease production late in 2008. The project area is located within the City of Coshocton/Franklin Township Joint Economic Development District. Its parent company, Altra BioFuels, is hopeful that production will resume in 2010. At its peak, the Coshocton plant employed nearly 45 individuals and is one of only a handful of ethanol plants in Ohio that were actually constructed and placed into operation.
Intrinergy, an alternative fuel provider, began construction of its $15 million renewable synthesis fuel supply facility in Coshocton early in 2007. Intrinergy will operate a gasification system at the Clow Water Systems Co. to provide it exclusively with energy thus driving Clow’s energy costs downward. There are expected to be between 5 and 10 full-time positions created at Intrinergy.
Annin & Company completed its 50,000 square foot expansion in 2005 with new job creation realized in 2006.
Annin & Company agreed to create 38 new, full – time positions
as part of an enterprise zone agreement with the Coshocton County Commissioners. The company, however, actually created 62 new, full-time positions increasing its payroll to 222 workers. The company invested approximately $12.1 million as part of its expansion. Annin is the nation’s largest manufacturer of American flags.
Organic Technologies expanded their business which involved producing phytosterols and natural tocopherols from vegetable oil distillate. Phytosterols are a natural, cholesterol reducing compound that is purified and added back to several consumer food products. Natural tocopherols are a powerful natural antioxidant; sometimes referred to as natural Vitamin E. Organic Technologies invested approximately $3 million in the new expansion. Because of the expansion 10 full-time positions were retained at the Coshocton plant and have added 26 new hires since October 2004 when the project began.
