Coshocton Committee of 100

Building Coshocton County for a better tomorrow!

The Committee of 100 was founded in September, 2008 by Edward Jones broker Mike Remington of Coshocton. Mike recruited Chuck Hathaway of Hathaway Construction in Coshocton to serve as co-chair for the purpose of recruiting 100 individuals, businesses, and organizations who would contribute $100 a month to a Community Development Fund housed at the Coshocton Foundation.

T he Committee was formed out of an extensive one-year planning effort coordinated by Buehler's Grocery in Coshocton, the port authority, chamber of commerce among others. All proceeds are managed by the Coshocton Foundation and can only be released by its distribution committee and the Coshocton Port Authority's Board of Directors for the following purposes:

Provide financial support for entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Acquisition of land and other site development costs associated with establishing or expanding a business and commerce park.

Provide lease subsidies or business development grants of up to $25,000 to private enterprises which will create jobs within Coshocton County.

Provide relocation assistance grants of up to $2,500 for Coshocton County high school graduates who return and create a new business.

Use to fulfill local match requirements for economic development activities supported by the state or federal government.

The port authority is who should be contacted by businesses and entrepreneurs with an interest in applying for financial assistance from the fund. It is intended to be a unique and competitive incentive offering for private enterprise.

Contributions to the fund are considered to be tax deductible. Participants, however, are encouraged to consult with their accountants to determine the level of benefit that may be realized as the result of making contributions. The concept of the Committee of 100 involves a process that encourages each member to recruit 1-2 new members to attain the goal of 100 contributing members.

Members to date include Mr. Remington, Mr. Hathaway, Mr. Bruce Wallace who is owner of WTNS Radio in Coshocton, Rainbow Hills Winery located north of West Lafayette, AUER Ace Hardware in Coshocton, Ohio Heritage Bank in Coshocton, the Kiwanis Club of Coshocton among others.
