Why Coshocton?
Coshocton,
Ohio is geographically located midway and with great access to
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Columbus, Ohio. It is also less than one
hour south of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. The
north-south Interstate 77 corridor is within 15 minutes of Coshocton
and the east-west Interstate 70 corridor is within 30 minutes of
Coshocton. The Ohio 16/36 corridor is a four lane, divided highway,
except for a short 8-mile stretch near the city of Coshocton that
connects Columbus, Ohio to I-77 near Newcomerstown, Ohio. The community
is home to the active Ohio Central Railroad company which operates
as a vibrant short-line with access to CSX and Norfolk-Southern lines.
Coshocton
County has an established enterprise zone for the entire county
allowing for real and personal property exemptions to be offered in
situations where there is legitimate competition for job creating
investments in certain business sectors. For more information about the

State of Ohio is phasing out tangible property taxes which means that
most post 2006 enterprise zone agreements will mostly yield a real
property tax benefit.
The
city of Coshocton has a Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) in a portion
of its downtown commercial business district. The may allow for real
property tax exemptions for certain investments. For more information

The
Coshocton Campus, which offers two year associate degrees, and the
Coshocton County Career Center provide custom training services to fit
the needs of employers. In some cases, training institutions in
neighboring counties are brought in to ensure that employer's needs are
being met.
The
Coshocton County Department of Job and Family Services provides
pre-employment screenings and certifications as well as other vital
workforce development services.
The
CPA also assists business and industry with determining other
appropriate state and federal programs that may be of assistance.

Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 36,655 people, 14,356 households, and 10,164 families residing in the county. The racial makeup of the county was 97.35% White, 1.09% Black or African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 0.84% from two or more races. 0.59% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 14,356 households out of which 32.60% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.80% were married couples living together, 9.20% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.20% were non-families. 25.40% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.01.
In the county the population was spread out with 26.20% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 27.40% from 25 to 44, 24.00% from 45 to 64, and 14.70% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 95.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.70 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $34,701, and the median income for a family was $41,676. Males had a median income of $31,095 versus $21,276 for females. The per capita income for the county was $16,364.
