All Ohio Safety Councils have the same goal - to increase safety awareness.
The Bureau of Workers' Compensation Division of Safety & Hygiene and the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce co-sponsor the Ohio Safety Council program locally to provide a forum for safety and health information, education and networking in our area.
Ohio has 80 Safety Councils; all made up of local companies and typically organized through chamber's of commerce, trade and manufacturing associations or other local safety-minded organizations.
Safety Councils hold regular meetings to examine and resolve potential and existing safety issues, inform participants about new techniques, products and services and to provide a thorough knowledge of these services.
In conjunction with the Bureau of Workers' Compensation division of Safety & Hygiene, the Safety Councils direct safety campaigns throughout Ohio to promote greater interest in the prevention of occupational accidents and disease. Companies with the highest safety records during the year are honored at annual awards events. The Division of Safety & Hygiene's Meetings and Conventions department assists in the overall operation of the Safety Council's activities.
The Coshocton County Safety Council meets once a month. The meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month over the noon hour. The Annual Safety Council Awards Banquet is held in April.
