| Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District |
All properties located in the jurisdiction of the MWCD receive benefits related to the performance of the system of reservoirs and dams that reduce flooding and conserve water for public uses. Ohio law details how conservancy districts generate funds for maintenance projects through assessments of property owners. The MWCD Board of Directors approved levying an assessment, the first in its history, in the fall of 2008. MWCD was organized in 1933.
There are six major areas of necessary maintenance in the watershed including:
- Dam Safety and Flood Reduction
- Sediment Removal
- Shoreline Protection
- Water Quality Improvements
- Watershed Management
- Reservoir Operations
